Always put yourself in your client’s perspective!
If you go to a website, let say a news website, what do you want to see there? Recent news? Headlines? Weather? Is it all easily accessible the first time you landed on the website? How about the loading time? Is it fast? If the answer is all yes then that news website has a good UX (User Experience).
On the other hand, is it easy to navigate? Is it pretty to look at? Is it designed purposely to compliment the content? If the answer is all yes then that news website has a good UI (User Interface).
While User Experience is a conglomeration of tasks focused on optimization of a product for effective and enjoyable use; User Interface Design is its complement, the look, and feel, the presentation and interactivity of a product.
Above is the Senayan City website that we’ve designed.
At first glance, it was nothing special, no fancy parallax design, no over the top animation just boxes of images. But we cannot judge everything from the cover right? From Google Analytics we see an increase of more than 150% visitors compared to the previous website, there’s also an increase in visitor quality (targeted segmentation) and the bounce rate is 20% lower. And why is that?
We designed the Senayan City website with their target market in mind. We give the visitors what they want right on the doorstep (Landing Page). All the visitors want to know are promotions, events, and directories, so why put them hidden in navigation if you can put them on the landing page.
As simple as that.
To create an engaging website, first, you need to know your audience, why they would want to go to your website, and give them only that.
Other information can be hidden inside the navigation.
Today’s fast pace lifestyle is not suited for the traditional marketing communication traditional approach, people are only willing to see what they want to see, I am sorry to say this but they don’t really care about you, they care about what they can get from you.
Hope this helps 🙂 until next time.
